ate all the wonderful food that i missed oh so much.
mmm in n' out mmmm.
spent some time visiting with family and good ole friends.
we had a great time.

but i think that we are all glad to be home.
especially daddy.
who actually missed his rugrats.

so off to some laundry and some much needed r and r.
plus, i need some time to sort through all the 250 pictures i took.

lately, through the magic of facebook,
i've gotten back in touch with a few of my high school friends.
and it has been so great catching up.

it's been wonderful finding out what everyone has been doing.
between raising families, earning phd's, traveling the world,
dealing with loss, dealing with cancer.
it's been nice, but it has also brought on some mixed emotions.
it has made me feel as if i have not done enough since high school.
especially when i find that my grade school friends are now doctors, historians, teachers.
i find myself saying, "i should have..."
school, that job, saved more money...the list is endless.
and i look at my life and ask
what have i been doing for the last 10 years?
what's my title?

and yesterday at the park, like a ton of bricks, it hit me.
i'm a mommy.
 i am a mommy.
i am.
that's my title. that's what i've been working for the last decade.
i have been building my family. i chose my husband. my partner.
who has been a rock through all of our ups and downs.
through all of my craziness.
and then we had our babies. and they completed us.
it is what i chose. i chose to have my family.

and i'm very lucky to have them.

fun at costco

just another usual thursday at costco.
cruised all the food sample carts. twice.
read some books. played with some toys.
had a hot dog and soda for a  buck fifty. can't beat that.
and while waiting at the optical department, the boys spotted these
spongebob squarepants eyeglasses.
and to everyone's delight, they kept them on and made funny faces at each other.
and only a crazy mommy would have her camera on her for a trip to costco.
crazy mommy. silly boys.

headed over to the coast to spend thanksgiving weekend with grandma.
we got lucky with one very bee-e-utiful day.
so we walked down to the beach to build some sandcastles.

ten and two

two boys. so close in age. and so different.
one walks a straight line, the other works it a different way.
one follows the rules, the other laughs at them.
one was born on friday the 13th. the other on monday the 9th.
complete ends of the week.
my ten and two boys. ten in the evening and two in the afternoon.

and both very loving and sweet.
huggable, kissable, great to tickle.
and always so surprising.

my ten and two boys.
they always did say how different your second one will be from your first.
so true.
